Nicole Oliver, host of Crash Test Mommy, was born in Ottawa, Ontario, the eldest of three siblings and the only girl. From her brothers she learned resilience and survival. When her parents signed her up for ballet lessons at the age of three years, it launched an interest in performance that continued through high school where she modeled, ran school assemblies, joined the jazz club and choreographed performance art productions. She auditioned for her first play in Grade Twelve, winning the lead as 'Sandy', the betrayer, in The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie, leading to her first professional gig at the National Arts Centre.
Upon completing high school, Oliver attended York University in Toronto, graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Honours degree. She continued her studies overseas in London and Oxford at the prestigious British American Dramatic Academy, an institution affiliated with Yale University, where she had a dream team of instructors including Jeremy Irons, Allan Rickman, Dame Peggy Ashcroft and Ian Holm. By 1993, Oliver had become a full time actor, supporting herself with voice-over animation as well as camera work.
Oliver has worked on television features for Warner Brothers, NBC and CBS. She has had recurring roles on several series, including Beggars and Choosers, Kung Fu, and FX: The Series. She has guest-starred on such series as The Collector, So Weird, Outer Limits, First Wave, Dead Man’s Gun, PSI Factor, and Stargate SG-1. She has had co-starring roles on The Immortal, Millennium<,I> and The Sentinel. Oliver was the lead in the film The Falling and a lead in the Movie of the Week I Want to Marry Ryan Banks. Most recently, she hosts Crash Test Mommy on Life Network.. Oliver currently resides in Vancouver with her husband and two children.
